DAIBES DEVELOPMENT GETS A NEW OKAY

The Township Committee gave approval this week again to the project being developed at the corner of Burnett and Springfield avenues by the Daibes Gas Co.

You may recall the issue got heated at the last meeting in early October, when Mayor De Luca said to a Daibes representative, "Your not the type of developer I want to work with," and added the site was "an eyesore" after delays of more than a year. See that HERE.

But De Luca said at Monday's meeting that the developer had satisfied the requirements so far after more than a year of delays.

The original plan called for a mixed-use residential and commercial building with a two-story development of 5,275-square-feet of retail space on the first floor and six apartments on the second floor, with 15 parking spaces. Construction is set to begin again next week.
