It's Election Day and because New Jersey holds its elections in off-years to essentially control the vote, not only is the governor's seat up for grabs, but also the entire state senate and assembly, along with three Essex County Board of Freeholder (or freeloaders as I call them) seats to vote on.
In Maplewood, we have one Township Committee seat with three candidates vying for that, while five candidates are running for three Board of Education seats.
Look for them hiding at the bottom of the ballot.
There are also two important state ballot questions, including one that would raise the minimum wage from $7.25 per hour to $8.25 per hour and tie future raises to cost of living increases.
Polls open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
