From Board of Education President Beth Daugherty today:
To the SOMSD Community:
The
Board of Education is committed to including feedback from all
stakeholders as we search for a new superintendent. We have hired the
firm Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates to help the Board with the
process, and charged them with seeking input from staff, parents,
students, and the general community on the highest priority
qualifications of a Superintendent for our district.
As
one of the initial steps in the process, the Board is seeking your
input on the desired characteristics and skills that you would like to
see in the next superintendent. Please share your thoughts by responding
to this survey.
As
you respond, please remember that all characteristics listed are
desirable, but we are interested in knowing your perceptions about which
characteristics are "most important" for the South Orange Maplewood
School District.
In
addition, focus groups are being scheduled for this summer and the fall
with teachers, administrators, students, community groups, and other
stakeholders. Saturday, September 13, 2014, will be a day full of focus
groups and open forums for anyone who would like to provide feedback in
person, and evening sessions will also be held in September in order to
reach as many stakeholder groups as possible.
On
behalf of the Board of Education, thank you for taking the time to
respond. The Board members, along with Hazard, Young, Attea &
Associates, appreciate your willingness to participate and look forward
to learning your perspective.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth T. Daugherty
President
Board of Education of South Orange Maplewood School District
