Maplewood Middle School Principal Jerrill Adams announced that its new guard would be on the job today.
Adams told parents via email:
Dear MMS Families:
Please join me in welcoming our new school unarmed security guard, Mr. Sullivan,
who will be joining our school community today. Mr. Sullivan has been working
at Columbia High School as a security guard for the past six years.
His primary role will be visitor containment and ID verification, and he will
be on duty from 7:30am until 4:00pm. Effective immediately, all parents and
visitors must show valid ID at the security desk for entry to MMS.
Mr. Sullivan will be stationed at the top of the stairs at our main
entrance and will escort all guests to the main office for further assistance.

In the last week about the district's plans for new unarmed security guards at both middle schools, but still with no details on why other than a "vulnerability" issue.
