NEW SETH BOYDEN PRINCIPAL GAINED FAME FOR GIVING PARENTS HOMEWORK IN MONTCLAIR

The Board of Education is set to appoint Damion Frye, a Newark schools special assistant to the superintendent and veteran teacher, to be the new principal of Seth Boyden School.

A list of appointments for Monday's school board meeting includes Frye, who will replace retiring Seth Boyden principal Mark Quiles.

A Montclair resident, Frye has also served as a Montclair High School teacher and a curriculum director in the New York City public schools.

In 2007, Frye was profiled in The New York Times by Maplewood's own Tina Kelley for his practice of assigning homework to parents as a high school teacher.
