MAPLEWOOD'S OWN BEA MILLER DEBUTS NEW ALBUM, ACCOLADES FOLLOW

Maplewood girl Bea Miller, who rose to national stardom on The X Factor nearly three years ago, debuted her first album, Not An Apology, last week and it's getting some great reaction.

It opened at #7 on the Billboard charts.

There is also this from The New York Times:

So here comes Bea Miller, not quite of outlaw stock but aggrieved all the same. Her debut, “Not an Apology” (Syco/Hollywood), is one of this year’s most exuberant pop album

The Star Ledger:

The 16-year-old Maplewood native is a real-life, budding star, with true fans and a catchy debut album on Hollywood Records, a label that also manages Demi Lovato, Grace Potter and Queen. She is also one of few contestants to find success after the FOX reality show, which failed to produce the stars of its "Idol" predecessor and was canceled in 2014.

The Miami Herald:

Looks are deceiving. Bea Miller can't be many inches over 5 feet tall, but boy, can this teenager belt out the tunes.

She's also at Number 12 on SiriusXM's Singles list.

SINGER BEA MILLER IN HER CHS PROM ATTIRE

Bea and date Lucas
We told you last night that singer and Maplewoodian Bea Miller was attending the Columbia High School prom.

Her mom, Kim, was nice enough to share some pics of Bea and her date, CHS senior Lucas Peterson, and the other pals they went to the big dance with at Westmount Country Club.

Sadly she has to rush out of town back to the tour circuit. But we hope she comes home again soon.

FORMER MMS STUDENT BEA MILLER'S MTV MUSIC AWARDS "SCANDAL"

If this is what passes for "scandal" for former Maplewood Middle Schooler Bea Miller, she is doing pretty well on the behavior front as her singing star rises.

From Twistmagazine.com:

Sure, Bea Miller had a totally glamorous moment walking the red carpet of the 2015 MTV Movie Awards. But once she was seated at the event, she was just like us. How so? The "Young Blood" singer snuck in a ton of potato chips so that she could snack on them while enjoying the show!

Bea wasn't shy about her sneaky snack moment, either. She tweeted that she had emptied out her bag so she could fit a whole pack of foods into her purse.

When fans thought she was joking, she tweeted photo-evidence of her snackery.
We love her for acting just like we do when we go to the movie theaters!

MAPLEWOOD'S POP STAR BEA MILLER BACK IN TOWN, AND IN LOVE

Maplewood's own Bea Miller, who has been rocking the pop world for the past few years, is making more news.

We have been keeping an eye on the former Maplewood Middle School student who toured last year for her first album, and is now in Nashville working on music with her boyfriend, Jacob Whitesides.

You recall she rocketed to stardom after a great appearance on the X Factor back in 2012 and 2013. She did not win but got a great recording contract and has been on the road, and on the move.

A singer in his own right, Whitesides posted a recording of the couple doing their own duo song.

The teen and pop news websites are offering up news notes about Miller, including video of Whitesides surprising her with some special visitors.

It also turns out she has relocated back to Maplewood with mom Kim Miller.

Stay tuned!

SINGER BEA MILLER AT CHS PROM TONIGHT

Tonight's Columbia High School prom is set for 7 p.m. at Westmount Country Club in Woodland Park, where it has been held for the past few years.

But there will be a little hometown star power with singer Bea Miller, a former Maplewood Middle Schooler, in attendance. While she does not attend Columbia, she is coming as the guest of a CHS senior and some other friends.

Miller, who came to national prominence back in 2013 with her success on The X Factor, has been out promoting her recent collection of EP's and working on music in Europe, according to her mother, Kim, who remains a local resident and activist.

"Bea is taking off right now from a gig in Toronto," Kim said today via email. "She should be landing soon. She spent a few weeks in Sweden at a music conference and writing songs with well-known Swedish writers."
