PRESS RELEASE


On June 7, 2012 at approximately 9:30pm Maplewood police officers responded to a
home on Beach Street to check conditions after receiving a call from the resident’s
daughter reporting that her father was in need of help. Upon arrival officers found a man
identified as XXX XXX, 76 years of age, lying on the floor of his bedroom with a
gun shot wound to his head. The preliminary investigation indicates the cause of death to
be suicide. The incident is being investigated by the Maplewood Police Detective Bureau
pending the results of an autopsy by the Essex County Medical Examiners Office.
