Maplewood got something of a prank done to it, or at least some of those who dined at Roman Gourmet, Tuesday afternoon.
The fake-out was the work of the ABC-TV show "What Would You Do?"
Producers paid $1,075 for filming permits to the Township.
The show set up hidden cameras in the pizzeria and put up posters indicating a four-year-old girl was missing in town. Then, during filming, actors playing the girl and a fictional abductor walked in.
Producers told Maplewoodian.com that they told all participants that it was a false premise and did not let anyone leave thinking it was real.
Still, some online were not happy about the fake premise, which is set to be on sometime next Spring.
Producer Kyle Moffatt spoke to us afterward to explain:
