MORE DETAILS ON MISSING MAN; FOUND SLEEPING IN A CAR

Maplewood Police released more details Monday on the missing Maplewood resident who left his home on Saturday night and was found Sunday.

In a statement today police said:

November 29, 2014; Missing Person; At approximately 9:15 PM a caretaker contacted Police Headquarters and reported that a 71 year old male in their care had gone missing.  He apparently left the home wearing only an undershirt and boxers unknown to the caregiver. Officers responded to the Boyden Ave address and checked the home and area.  

The Essex County Sheriff’s Office was contacted and sent a k9 Unit  to attempt to track the male.  

The NJ State Police also assisted by sending a helicopter to aid in the search. The joint search lasted for an extended period of time and all surrounding agencies were notified.  The male was located at approximately 11:30 AM sleeping in an unlocked motor vehicle by Officer Munoz.  

He was transported to the hospital for evaluation.
