SUPERINTENDENT TAKES THREE-WEEK VACATION, MMS PRINCIPAL RECRUITING DELAYED

Superintendent John Ramos
The most recent note to parents from the Maplewood Middle School parents association indicated that interviews for the new Maplewood Middle School principal would not occur until Aug. 22, three weeks from now.

It turns out that is also when Superintendent John Ramos is on a three-week vacation.

Emails to him were greeted with this response:

I am currently out of the office returning on August 22. For immediate assistance, please call 973-762-5600 ext. 1820 or 1821. Thank you.

This is at a time when the district is seeking to replace both former MMS principal Jerrill Adams, who resigned suddenly in June, and assistant principal Marc Gold, who is leaving for a similar job in Morristown.

Assistant Principal Louis Brown is serving as interim MMS principal until a new person is found.

Among those who have been interviewed for the position is former Livingston and Vernon superintendent John Alfieri. He told Maplewoodian.com he had interviewed for the MMS post but had not heard either way if he had been chosen for further review.

Ramos said last month the district had decided to reopen the MMS principal recruiting process, saying none of the first round of candidates had advanced to further reviews.

Alfieri was from Vernon, not Verona.
