TOWNSHIP COMMITTEE APPOINTS GRODMAN TO REPLACE BROWNLEE

The Township Committee unanimously chose former TC Member Ian Grodman to replace Marlon Brownlee on the governing body Tuesday night.

In a 4-0 vote, the committee chose Grodman from among three nominees put forth by the Maplewood Democratic Committee to replace Brownlee, who resigned last month. The other nominees were Amy Jo Curran and Garnet Hall.

See the TC vote and Grodman's acceptance below:

Grodman will serve the remainder of Brownlee's term, which ends on Dec. 31, 2016. At that time, the winner of the November election to fill the seat will take over.

Democrat Frank McGehee is running against Republican Mike Summersgill in the November election for the seat.

Grodman, who is currently chair of the Maplewood Democratic Committee, said he would leave that post for the remainder of the year while serving on the TC.
