SHOPLIFTING, THEFT AND BURGLARY MARK POLICE WEEK

Maplewood Police issued its weekly police report, which included theft, burglary and a shoplifting incident we first reported last week.


October 3, 2013: Shoplifting; At approximately 130 PM, the department was alerted to a commotion at Kasper’s Liquor Store on Springfield Ave. Officers responded and found that patrons were detaining a male that had attempted to shoplift two bottles of liquor. The male identified as Yamil Lopez, age 31 of Newark was arrested and charged with concealing the two bottles in his pants. 

 October 1, 2013: Theft; At approximately 2 PM a male juvenile was observed removing a package from outside of a Garfield Pl residence. Officers responded but were unable to locate the juvenile. 

October 2, 2013: Burglary; Between 11 AM and 1 PM entry was forced to a home on Prospect St and jewelry was stolen. 

October 2, 2013: Attempted Burglary; A resident of 44th St returned home and found that a ladder was removed from their garage and placed against their home. An unknown individual or individuals attempted to make entrance to a second story window but, were unsuccessful.
