NEXT YEAR'S SCHOOL CALENDER APPROVED

Not a group to wait until the last minute, the Board of Education approved the school calendar for the 2015-2016 school year this past week.

Monday night the board finalized the calender that again includes 183 student class days, with one week-long spring break from April 11-15, 2016, which will be shortened if needed to make up if more than the allotted three snow days are taken.

One change is that Yom Kippur will be a day off on September 23, 2015, unlike this year when it is not a day off because it occurs between sundown Friday, October 3, 2014, to sundown on Saturday, October 4, 2014.

The Holiday break is a long one, from a half-day on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 to Friday, January 1, 2016.

The February break is only one day, Friday, February 12, 2016, followed by President's Day on Monday, Feb. 15, 2016. This year, students have a two-day February break, Thursday, February 12, 2015 and Friday, February 13, 2015, prior to the February 16 President's Day.

The first days of school are again the first Thursday and Friday in September 2015, with the last days June 21 and 22, 2016.
