KEYPORT PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR COMING TO MAPLEWOOD

The Township Committee on Monday is planning to appoint a new public works director, according to this week's TC meeting agenda.

R. Calvin Bell, who is currently public works director in Keyport, N.J., is slated for approval, replacing outgoing DPW Director Eric Burbank. 

The 55-year-old Bell has served in the Keyport post for two years. He told Maplewoodian.com he is "looking forward to serving the people of Maplewood."

We first reported in September that Burbank was resigning to devote more time to his son, Ryan, who has been recuperating from a paralyzing accident two years ago.

See the appointing resolution below. It indicates Bell will earn $100,000 per year, about $17,000 less than Burbank according to records. It also notes that the township interviewed five candidates for the job:
