CONTROVERSIAL STRAY CAT FEEDING PLAN APPROVED

Another contentious discussion at the Township Committee over the controversial stray cat program Wednesday night ended with the TC approving the plan, 4-1, on second reading, with Committeeman Marlon Brownlee strongly opposing it again.

The program will authorize the group Furry Hearts Rescue to capture and spay or neuter stray cats, then return them to the streets. Brownlee has objected saying it would only allow some people to feed stray cats and send them back out.

But proponents contend it will help reduce the stray cat population.

The final vote approved the plan for a three-year pilot program.
