STUPID LEAF PICK-UP STRIKES AGAIN

I have avoided for years what had become an annual rant about the stupid leaf-collection program that plagues our township each year.

The ridiculous approach of shoving leaves out to the street, blocking parking and traffic for days, and weeks, and having a truck come by and scoop them up, usually in a poor manner that spreads many of them around.

The scheduling is also pathetic, in which homeowners are told only the week their leaves will be collected and often rake them for Monday, but do not see a pickup until Thursday or Friday.

That is what happened on our street this week and the mess left behind is as irritating as ever.

Please Township officials, find a way to do it right.

I know we cannot burn leaves and for some reason bagging them is taboo. But the system we are subjected to now is unacceptable.
