DISTRICT TO APPROVE $12,000 IN TRAVEL, INCLUDING FOR TEACHER THEY WANTED TO FIRE

The Board of Education tonight plans to approve more than $12,000 in travel-related expenses for district staff.

Among those receiving such approval is the same physical education teacher the district sought to fire years ago, but could not.

You may recall that Wayne Calandriello had been cited for numerous improper actions that led the district to seek his ouster. But, as per the tenure restrictions, his case was reviewed by a state administrator who determined a suspension was enough. He is now at Columbia High School.

And now he's costing the district $110 so he can attended a conference in Long Branch.

The remainder of the other travel expenses, found HERE, tally $12,210.70
