TOWNSHIP COMMITTEE APPROVES COLD-WEATHER DOORS FOR VILLAGE

The Township Committee on Tuesday followed through with plans initially announced last month to allow temporary cold-weather outer doors for businesses within Maplewood Village.

The TC unanimously approved the pilot program via a resolution that will be in place for 2015, but would require an additional approval beyond that.

“There is probably going to be five stores that are going to use this,” Mayor Vic De Luca said during the meeting.

The enclosure will only be allowed in Maplewood Village and via a permitting process that will limit them to the winter season; require a four-foot space to the curb; an insurance requirement; removal of snow around the opening; and illustrations of how the unit will be used contained in the application.
