Former Mayor Fred Profeta, who has been a lead opponent of the Maplewood Village post office plan, hinted that a deal may be in the works to settle the lawsuit filed by the Village Keepers Inc. against the Township, which claims the process was not properly followed when the Maplewood Village Alliance gave initial approval to the project.
"There are now talks between attorneys about methods of settling this short of litigation," Profeta said, later adding, "Just normal dialogue thus far."
Profeta recently resigned from the Maplewood Village Alliance and is now on the board of Village Keepers.
