Update: We have removed a link to the image at issue here at the request of the mother of one of the students, who is a minor.
A racially offensive Instagram posting allegedly from two Columbia High School students has sparked concern among many at the school and prompted Principal Elizabeth Aaron to issue a message reminding them of the dangers and responsibilities of social media.
The posting, which went up earlier this week, included a photo of two students apparently in a computer generated dark-face with the message, "Dude w his N---a."
Below that another comment had been posted stating, "nothings better than embracing your inner black man with your bae."
Aaron reportedly spoke to students on the CHS public address system late Wednesday and reminded them that social media postings are a reflection of them and CHS.
She could not be reached for comment Thursday.
This is the second time this school year that an Instagram posting sparked concern. In November, a threatening message on Instagram by a student resulted in a lockdown of the high school and the apparent author of the posting taken into custody off campus.
