MAPLEWOOD VILLAGE CONSTRUCTION MITIGATION COMMITTEE UPDATES VILLAGE PARKING MAP TIMED TO POST OFFICE BUILDING CONSTRUCTION

Demolition to begin in Coming Weeks

The Maplewood Construction Mitigation Committee, in partnership with the Maplewood Village Alliance, today released an updated parking map for Maplewood Village in anticipation of the start of demolition of the old Post Office building in the coming weeks.

During the demolition and construction, which is anticipated to take approximately 12 months, there will be some reduction in parking around the construction site.  While there may be intermittent closures to allow for truck traffic and deliveries, there will be no significant change in traffic patterns. The Ricalton Square entry from Maplewood Avenue will be open and one-way circulation will be maintained.  And the pedestrian underpass near the construction site will remain open throughout construction.

Julie Doran, the Executive Director of the Village Alliance, explained, “We are working closely with the Township and the Construction Mitigation Committee to ensure that residents, shop owners and employees and visitors know where they can find free parking. Maplewood will be open and ready for business throughout the construction.”

Ms. Doran explained that during evening and weekend hours the NJ Transit parking areas and Dunnell Road on-street parking is often available.  Also, on-street parking on Woodland Road between Durand Road and Jefferson Avenue is allowed and often available.

All parking restrictions do remain in place, however, and she encouraged drivers to refer to the posted parking signs – commuter restrictions and time limits remain in place.

New parking maps will be available in shops throughout the village and online at MaplewoodVillageNJ.com.
