TC CONSIDERS EXPANDING PARKING TO TWO HOURS ON SOME VILLAGE STREETS

If you park in Maplewood Village, you may get more time to wander the shops if a proposal to expand parking by an hour on some streets is approved.

At the last Township Committee meeting, TC member Nancy Adams proposed changing the one-hour parking on Baker Street, and Highland and Inwood places to two hours. She said she had been given a petition from many merchants asking for the change.

"I think it makes complete sense," said Mayor Vic Deluca. "It's actually hard for us to enforce one hour."

TC member Greg Lembrich agreed, but added: "I'd like to give an opportunity with some public notice to give people a chance to express their feelings.

The governing body directed that a related ordinance to that effect be considered at the next TC meeting in June.
