Defendant Harrison Allen |
A judge today increased bail to $150,000 for a Seton Hall University student accused of killing two people while driving drunk in Maplewood last summer.
Harrison Allen, 20, is facing charges of aggravated manslaughter and vehicular homicide for the August 2013 crash that killed Tamir Harry, 16, and Kervin Noel, 21, both of Maplewood.
Law enforcement sources say Allen was going between 50 mph and 60 mph – twice the local speed limit – when he ran through a stop sign at the corner of Essex Avenue and South Fourth Street and crashed his 2013 Chrysler 200 into a 2001 Nissan Sentra.
Harry and Noel were ejected from the Sentra and died a short time later. Two backseat passengers — Tamir’s brother, Tahsir, 20, and Rodney Lovius, 21 – were critically injured.
Allen’s attorney, Anthony Gualano, revealed today that a plea deal is being negotiated with Essex County prosecutors.
