STRAY CAT RESCUE PROGRAM SHOWS "WEAKNESSES"

The Township's stray cat rescue and release program launched last year may need to be re-tooled due to "weaknesses" in its operation, especially a lack of volunteers, Health Officer Robert Roe told the Township Committee this week.

At Tuesday's TC meeting, Roe updated the governing body on the program that works with Furry Hearts Rescue to find so-called feral cats, trap them, spay and neuter them, then release.

Roe said in September that more than 124 stray cats had been put through the program. But he said this week there was a lack of volunteers and it may need to be reworked.

See his comments to the TC below:

Roe said a more detailed report on the program would be given in January.
