SETH BOYDEN THEFT FROM CAR, ARREST LEADS POLICE WEEK

From Maplewood Police today:

February, 22, 2016; Theft from Auto; At approximately 1:30 PM an unsecured vehicle parked in front of Seth Boyden School on Boyden Ave was entered and a cell phone was removed.  A witness followed the actor into Irvington where they flagged down an Irvington Police Officer.  The individual, identified as 53 year old Michael Johnson of Irvington was stopped.  Maplewood officers responded and took Michael Johnson into custody.  The cell phone was also recovered.  Mr Johnson was charged and transported to Essex County Correctional Facility.

February 22, 2016; Shoplifting; At approximately 1 PM, officers responded to the Extra Supermarket on Irvington Ave on a reported shoplifting.  A black male in his 40s or 50s was observed by the management attempting to take several containers of detergent from store.  He fled through the parking lot on foot prior to patrols arriving.

February 27, 2016, Motor vehicle Theft; During the overnight hours an Audi parked in a Union Ave driveway was stolen.  The vehicle was later recovered in Newark.
