The municipal budget will be center stage at tonight's Township Committee meeting as the TC introduces the proposed $41.52 million spending plan and some related ordinances.
We revealed on Sunday that the budget includes a 1.96% tax increase, which will mean an average property tax increase of $82 for a home assessed at $397,000. That tax hike is below the 2% state cap and is being credited, at least in part, to the $1 million in revenue from the sale of the former Maplewood Village post office.
The budget will also include a proposed 2% salary increase for the Township Committee, bringing each of their annual stipends to $4,080.

Also on tap at tonight's meeting is discussion of the pool fees for 2016 and a proposal for providing free feminine hygiene products in public buildings.

You can also always speak up at the two public comment portions of the meeting. So show up, ask a question, give them a piece of your mind or just a pat on the back.
Remember, they work for you
