SAT PREP HELP AT THE LIBRARY TONIGHT

Tutor, educator and author Mark Richman will be speaking about the “SAT and ACT” Exams (“How To Help Your Child Succeed On The SAT and ACT”) at The Maplewood Public Library from 7:00 - 8:30 PM on Wednesday Feb. 6, 2013.

Mr. Richman has been teaching, tutoring and educating for over 39 years. He is the author of four books on education. He lectured in December 2009 and May 2010 at Rutgers University on “Brain - Based Study Strategies.” He is currently teaching math at Columbia HS in Maplewood. Mr. Richman has received four grants (2004 – 2006, 2008, 2012) from “Achieve,” a Maplewood - based education organization that supports innovative ideas in education. The grants serve to help fund creative techniques in the classroom. 

He has presented several of his books at the NJEA Convention (Nov. 2008) in Atlantic City and has presented his ideas on teaching and study skills to audiences of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics in Atlantic City (Oct. 2009 and Oct. 2011), Boston (Oct. 2008) and New Orleans (Oct. 2010). 

Mr. Richman tutors all subjects at all grade levels but he specializes in SAT/ACT Prep.

Of great importance is to begin studying months before the SAT and work regularly and consistently. Learning the grammar rules, increasing vocabulary, and enhancing essay skills– each is a time consuming endeavor.

Also, use a book which includes detailed answer explanations so that the student is able to enhance skills by learning from inevitable mistakes.
