Mayor Vic De Luca opened the event by stating that Town Hall will close at 3 p.m. today
Police Chief Robert Cimino said a township emergency has been declared as of 2 p.m., noting that means improperly parked cars will be ticketed and towed and no overnight parking. He also urged residents "not to engage in non-essential travel," adding that more police have been put on duty.
De Luca said the township received an email from PSE& G, offering that the emergency outage number to be called is 1-800-436-7734. He also said police emergency number, of course is 911, non-emergency number is 973-762-3407.
New Fire Chief Robert Dingelstadt asked residents to "adopt a fire hydrant," and clear them of snow if you see them.
They stated the Jitneys will begin running at 3 p.m. and stop at 7 p.m. due to the storm.
Officials also said De Hart Community Center will be used as a shelter if needed.
Library Director Sarah Lester said all library programs for Saturday have been cancelled, with Saturday hours yet to be determined, the library will close today at 4 p.m.
"Get home, stay home and stay safe," the mayor said.
