POST OFFICE BALLOONS ARE BACK

It looks like the OhNo60 balloons are back.

We spotted these symbolic helium objects on Sunday at the former Maplewood Village post office site, where a new three-story, 20-apartment, five-shop complex is set to be built.

OhNo60 was created last year to protest the original plan, which could have hit the 60-foot height. The balloons were initially placed to indicate that height. They had faded and deflated, but returned this weekend.

The height has since been reduced to less than 50 feet, but there is still a lot that is drawing complaints.

Among the objections are the five-year tax abatement, or PILOT, for developer JMF Properties, as well as claims that the post office building could still be re-used and a demolition is not needed.

The Planning Board is currently reviewing it all. See the latest HERE.
