CHS BASEBALL BEGINS SEASON WITH A WIN!

While the Columbia High School baseball team waits to see what an outside investigator decides about the fate of Coach Joe Fischetti, they are starting the season with a bang.

The team won its first game on Friday, 4-2, against Verona.

Luke Jackson finished 2-for-3 with two singles, a run and three RBI as Columbia defeated Verona, 4-2, in Maplewood.

Quinn Krais, Christian Pierre and Daniel Cotler all scored for Columbia, which scored two runs in each of the fourth and fifth innings to erase a 2-0 deficit. Pitcher Pete Nolet tossed all seven innings, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out four.

The next game is at 4 p.m. today at Underhill Field against Glen Ridge (if it's not rained out). Come out and root them on.
