DAY TWO OF PARCC TESTING CANCELLED DUE TO STATEWIDE SHUTDOWN

A day after glitches and delays disrupted the first day of PARCC testing for Columbia High School on Tuesday, the entire day of testing for today has been cancelled, according to the PARCC national office.

Heather Reams, director of communications for the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) Inc. in Washington, D.C., confirmed the statewide PARCC shutdown, but said the cause had yet to be determined.

"The state of New Jersey is down, I don't have any other details," Reams told Maplewoodian.com today. "I think they are trying to get to the bottom of it."

Several students said they were told the tests were cancelled. Many spent the morning in a study hall because classes had been canceled for the test.

The school district has yet to respond to requests for comment or inform parents through any formal process, although this was posted on the district website:
PARCC Update April 20
Pearson, the national vendor that is hosting the PARCC testing service, experienced technical issues on their side again today, which interrupted testing across the nation. Pearson and the NJDOE are working to resolve the problems before tomorrow.
