CHS PARCC TESTING BEGINS WITH DELAYS, GLITCHES AND SOME STUDENTS MISSING OUT

The second week of the controversial Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers, or PARCC, testing got off to a bumpy start today with technical glitches and delays for many students that resulted in some not even getting to take the test.

The district issued this notice today:

PARCC Testing began before the break in the elementary and middle schools and at Columbia High School today. The first week of testing went smoothly, with only a few minor issues.  

Pearson, the vendor that is hosting the PARCC testing service, experienced technical issues on their side today. 

Their systems became overloaded and some teachers and students were unable to log in as a result. Students who were able to login were able participate on the PARCC exam today. Students who were not able to participate on the PARCC exam today will be rescheduled as appropriate.

CHS Principal Elizabeth Aaron also noted the problems in a note to parents that stated, in part:  

As you saw from our district email and have surely heard from  your students, many were frustrated by issues regarding password log-in, testing access, and other technical ‘glitches’ on the Pearson end of things with this day’s testing.
