Board President Wayne Eastman made the announcement at Monday night's meeting, stating the board is still negotiating, but plans to have a five-year agreement with Ramos at a base salary of $177,500, which is within the state superintendent cap.
Ramos is currently principal of the Middle East International School in Doha, Qatar, but has served in Bridgeport, Watertown and Groton, Connecticut, as well as in the post of deputy commissioner of education for the state of Connecticut. He will replace former superintendent Brian Osborne, who left last summer for a new job in New York.

Eastman said Ramos will be in the district to meet parents in April, with a community forum set for April 7. He is set to take over the top post on August 1.
