The Township Committee on Tuesday delayed introduction of the 2015 municipal budget, with Mayor Vic De Luca saying it was not yet at an acceptable level.
"We had anticipated introducing the budget this evening and we have been looking at the numbers over the last week or so, we are still not happy with where the numbers are at the moment," De Luca said during the meeting. "We had talked a couple of weeks ago of a potential budget increase of 5.6 (points), we have lowered that projection. We are still not happy with the number we want to introduce it at so we are deferring introduction of the budget until April 7."
At the last TC meeting, the township had revealed the current spending proposal still required some $700,000 in cuts and could have included a 5.6 point increase over the current spending plan.
De Luca did not offer details on what had been cut in current reviews or what was still to be looked at.
