VOTING AT FIREHOUSE MOVING TO THE WOODLAND

If you usually vote at the Maplewood Firehouse on Dunnell Road, things are going to change in the June primary.

Township Clerk Liz Fritzen informed the Township Committee last week that Districts 2 and 17, which have been voting at the firehouse, will now be at The Woodland.

"It is entirely our suggestion, my suggestion," she told the Township Committee at last week's meeting. "The Board of Elections has come out and taken a field tour on the change."

She added, "parking is much better at The Woodland ... coupled with the fact that the November vote in the (firehouse) garage is very, very cold ... Every voter in that district prior to June will receive a postcard, and it will indicate in the sample ballot and we will also post signs. We have changed major polling locations in Maplewood over the years and I think for the better."

"I think it's a good idea," Mayor Vic De Luca said.
