CHS LOCKDOWN DELAYS SCHOOL ENTRY FOR HUNDREDS OF STUDENTS

Hundreds of students at Columbia High school were barred from entering the building this morning for an unknown reason as police and administrators instituted what appeared to be a lockdown.

Several students who gathered outside to await the clear signal to enter the high school said they had not been allowed in at all today as of 9 a.m., but said early Period 1 students who arrive at 7:20 a.m. were inside.

Police on the scene would not explain the situation, but said the all clear to re-enter was called at about 8:50 a.m.

School officials sent a robocall message to parents stating it was a "potential safety issue" and a  "code yellow shelter in place," which is similar to a lockdown as no one was permitted to enter or leave the building during the time of the incident.

We will provide further information as it is released.

This top secret approach to informing parents what is happening is mystifying. Is this Maplewood/South Orange or the USSR?
