SALE OF POST OFFICE SITE COMPLETED; TAX ABATEMENT TRANSFER APPROVED

The Township formally closed on the sale of the former Maplewood Village Post Office site to JMF Properties on Monday, according to Mayor Vic Deluca, who announced the sale at Monday night's Township Committee meeting.

The selling had been approved previously by the TC, but the actual sale did not take place until Monday prior to the meeting. The final price was about $1.3 million.

Deluca announced also that JMF Properties, which is building a new three-story, 20-unit, five-retail shop complex on the site, had given an additional $100,000 to the Maplewood Affordable Housing Trust Fund bringing its total contribution to $200,000 to that fund. He also said another $5,000 had been given to the Township to offset approval of a loading zone.

At the same Monday night meeting, the TC gave final approval, 5-0, to a transfer of the tax abatement for the project to two new entities. See more on that issue HERE.
