ARMED ASSAULT, ROBBERY AND ARREST LEAD POLICE WEEK

From Maplewood Police today:

October 28, 2015; Theft; During the daytime hours a residence on the 500 block of Irvington Ave was entered. Electronics and jewelry were reportedly stolen from the home.

October 29, 2015; Robbery;  At approximately 5 PM, a 14 year old male was walking on Prospect St when he was approached by three teenage males.  One of the males asked him if he had any money.  When he told the suspect he did not the male asked for his shoes.  The victim gave the suspect a pair of old shoe he had in his backpack and the three males fled on foot.  The incident was reported several hours later.  The victim was uninjured.  No weapon was shown or implied.  The incident is currently under investigation.

October 31, 2015; Burglary; At approximately 4:30 AM a male smashed the front door of East Wok on Springfield Ave and stole the tip jar from inside.

October 31, 2015; Bicycle Theft; A bicycle left unsecured in front of Columbia High School was stolen some time during the day.

November 2, 2015; Aggravated Assault; At approximately 5 PM a 15 year old male walking on Oakland Rd near Courter Ave pointed what was believed to be a handgun at another 16 year old male.  The victim, a Maplewood resident ran from the scene.  The 15 year old male and Maplewood resident was identified by the Youth Aid Bureau.  He was arrested on 11/3/15, charged with aggravated assault and weapons offenses and transported to the Essex County Youth House.  A BB gun was also recovered.  The victim was uninjured and the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
