AMBULANCE REPLACEMENT TOPS TC MEETING AGENDA TONIGHT

TC votes tonight to replace this destroyed ambulance
Since Tuesday was Election Day, the Township Committee moved it regular meeting to tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Town Hall.

See the agenda HERE.

Among the items up for review is an ordinance authorizing $260,000 for a new fire department ambulance after an older one caught fire in September.

The funding was supposed to be approved last month, but the ordinance could not be approved at the meeting because two of the TC members were absent.

Township Administrator Joseph Manning said at the last TC meeting that the Fire Department had also lost its other ambulance to apparent mechanical problems and had been forced to borrow ambulances.

"We need an ambulance quickly because the ambulance that we had, our primary ambulance, was destroyed in a fire," he said. "While waiting to get insurance settlements we need to move forward and get it replaced. Our secondary ambulance is having problems also, so we're actually borrowing ambulances from other towns and companies at this point."

It appears at least some, if not, all of the funding will be reimbursed by insurance on the destroyed ambulance, which remained in the parking lot of the main firehouse.
