We stopped by the Education Summit on Tuesday night at Columbia High School.
The crowd was big and, at least in the auditorium, resembled a political convention.
Let's hope something substantial comes of it.
Below you can see Superintendent John Ramos' opening remarks.
He repeated many of his often-used broad themes and catch phrases, noting cell phones have improved in the past 10 years and seeking to relate that to the SOMSD situation. Stating, "we still operate with an agrarian, industrial-age kind of educational system. There's a disconnect there and it's going to take forward-thinking people to figure it out."
He later added, "Tonight our learning community begins a new and deep engagement ... to re-imagine education in this community."
