MAPLEWOOD POOL DROPS FREEMAN'S FISH CONCESSION

Fans of Freeman's Fish Market and its popular concession stand at the Maplewood Pool may be disappointed this summer as another, out-of-town company is taking over the food sales at the pool.

The Township Committee on Tuesday is planning to award the 2015 concession to RS Food Express Inc. of Roselle Park.

RS Food Express came in with the highest bid for the contract at $22,500, according to the Recreation Department.

Freeman's, which has had the concession since 2012 -- and also in other years prior to that -- offered the lowest bid at $15,000.99. SA Food Associates of Linden bid $18,000.

The bid is the amount the concessionaire pays the pool for the right to serve food at the concession stand.
