TOWNSHIP COMMITTEE RAISES SEWER FEE, APPROVES POOL CONCESSION CHANGE

The Township Committee on Tuesday night gave initial approval to a $9 rate hike for the annual sewer fee, while also voting for a resolution to award the pool concession contract to a new company.

The TC voted, 4-0, on the ordinance that will increase the annual sewer fee from $175 to $184. The increase follows a rate hike issued from the Joint Meeting of Essex and Union counties, which operates the wastewater treatment plant.

On the pool, the new contract goes to RS Food Express of RoseLle Park, which offered the highest of three bidders at $22,500. They will replace Freeman's Fish Market, which has been running the food stand at the pool since 2012 and offered the lowest bid. That resolution also passed, 4-0. TC member Jerry Ryan was absent.
