AS ANOTHER 24-HOUR MARKET IS PLANNED, POLICE DATA FINDS THEY DRAW ONE IN 19 CALLS

As we reported recently, a new 24-hour Wawa Market is being planned for the stretch of Springfield Avenue near Chancellor.

Details on it are HERE.

This would be the fifth 24-hour store in town, along with the Quick Chek just two blocks away and the three 7-Elevens in town.

A review of police records for 2014 finds that those four existing 24-hour stores account for one out of every 19 police calls in Maplewood.

Out of the 45,286 police calls last year, 747 were for the Quik Chek, 636 for the 7-Eleven on Springfield Avenue, 767 for the 7-Eleven on Irvington Avenue, and 286 for the 7-Eleven on Valley Street.
