MAYOR DE LUCA ENDORSES RYAN, ADAMS IN CAMPAIGN LETTER

It was not much of a surprise that Mayor Vic De Luca would endorse incumbent Township Committeeman Jerry Ryan and challenger Nancy Adams in the upcoming Democratic primary. 

Both candidates received the endorsement of the Maplewood Democratic Committee, upon which De Luca sits. They are facing a third challenger, Greg Lembrich, in the primary election. Incumbent Kathy Leventhal is not running again.

De Luca made his endorsement clear in this letter to residents this week. It involved no use of Township funds or resources and was sent from his home:

Asked how many homes received the letter or what it cost, De Luca declined to reveal, saying via email: "With all due respect, we are in the middle of a campaign and providing that information publicly at this time is not wise. We will submit all state reports when they are due."

Fair enough.
