ACLU CLAIMS TOWNSHIP SIGN ORDINANCE UNCONSTITUTIONAL

The American Civil Liberties Union of New Jersey is challenging the Township's restriction on lawn signs, specifically those that had been put out by the group, WhoWeUse.

You may recall, the Township ordered owners of WhoWeUse to remove their blue wooden signs, noting they violate the Township's limit on such signs.

In a letter to the Township, dated May 12, the ACLU contends such a restriction is unconstitutional.

Asked for his response, Township Attorney Roger Desiderio told Maplewoodian.com: "The Township will respond in due course."
