CHS BASEBALL HAVING "DREAM SEASON" AT 15-1

The Columbia High School varsity baseball team has quietly built one of its best records ever so far this season, going 15-1 in league play with eyes on doing more.

The team is regularly ranked in the top 25 statewide among polls. Coach Joseph Fischetti calls it a "dream season."

The Cougars also won their first game in the Greater Newark Tournament on Saturday, beating East Orange, 13-3, and ending the game with a "mercy" win in the fifth inning at Underhill Field.

Jesse Evans pitched for the win, with Eric Lax clobbering a three-run homer and Anthony Starzynski grabbing three hits and three RBI's. Quinn Krais went 4 for 4 with a stolen base and Ryan Murphy took two hits, two stolen bases and scored two runs.

They play again in that tournament on Thursday at home. Their next regular season contest is Monday at home against Newark East Side.

We dropped by Saturday's game and got some highlights. See below and come out and root them on!
